Again the days are zipping by - I feel like I say that all the time - but it is so true. Zip, zap, zing, before I know it two weeks have gone by. Thankfully, it’s been more the fun type of busy for the most part. Then again who knows, because do I even remember last week? Well parts.

It’s another sun shiny day so I’m attempting to do this quick like because I made the mistake of mentioning a trip to the lake to the kids yesterday and now they are raring to go. Honestly so am I - but I’ll keep that to myself :P

wasn’t done with this before taking off - and now we are back :) It was a beautiful day to be at the water! Even if all I got wet was my toes because the water was like ice and my feet were numb within moments.

Now back to our regular blog post.

Last Tuesday after reading Kirsten’s blog, and seeing her linen stitch cowl, I knew I too was a follower. All during knit night that cowl was stuck in my head, and when I realized I had the perfect yarn for it I became a little obsessed. Yes Jess, that’s the reason for my glazed far away looks (the excuse I’m sticking to at least). As soon as I was home it was cast on time. Then I became totally excited with linen stitch in the round, there may have even been mad laughter, but I absolutely could not stop, and before I knew it - it was done. I was happy and oh so satisfied.

I love linen stitch

And I’m loving the inside just as much - it’s reversible too!

One lesson learned: When you ask daughter to model neck wear on our first over 80° day you don’t get smiles.

Missy not amused with the modeling gig - but look at that yummy linen stitch

I actually started and finished this before Kristen had a pattern written up, but it’s the same as her Chikcadee Cowl which is now available. Which I highly recommend. It’s quick, it’s easy, it’s lovely, it’s linen stitch in the round! and so much fun. All the details can be found on my Ravelry project page.

Because I am a true follower, and honestly had to find out if I could still, here is my cartwheel.

cartwheel
Yes! I still got it :P

I had to do like a gazillion cartwheels for that one photo! and why I never thought to change out of the skirt to make the whole process easier - who knows? Most of the photos were not so elegant looking (if that’s what you want to call it).

There’s even video but I’m not posting them here - you’ll have to hunt those down on my flickr account your darn selves :)

Have a great weekend all!

This past month I’ve been so lucky with winning blog contests I find it mind boggling. Love it. Totally. Yet it all still boggles my mind. First up, long over due blog appreciation goes to Jess. Who’s blog contest I won a bit ago.

Jessalu Loot

What’s all there? A wonderful bump of natural colored merino, some really cool postcards (not showing that well on top of the merino) from pictures taken by Jess herself, a little sheep Pez dispenser (that I know Jess finds surprising that it’s still in the packaging - had to keep it that way until I was able to snap the darn picture), and a skein of Seacoast Handpainted Yarn in a wonderful merino/tencel blend. Her prize also included a $25.00 gift certificate to the Loopy Ewe. Yes! We all know how I hate that place :) So with my loopy money I picked up two skeins of Malabrigo lace and a little Namaste accessories tote.

Thank you so much Jess!

As if that wasn’t enough I also just recently won a blog contest Sarah of Perfect Day Yarns ran.

What we have here is one skein of Beat Sock in Midnight Iris, a Piddleloop Piddly bag, a mini skein of her new Free Verse Sock, some small purple stitchmarkers, and a bag of chocolate peanut clusters.

Thank you so much Sarah!

I’m thinking now might be the time to actually buy a lottery ticket instead of just contemplating what I would do with the winnings from the tickets I never buy. I’m on a roll :)

Man I meant to do this so much earlier, but time keeps slipping away from me. I don’t know what is up with that - but life is zipping by at the speed of light, and I’m having a hard time keeping up.

I managed to actually finish something just in a lick of time to add to littlemans bucket of goods for todays holiday festivities. Just pay no mind to the down and dirty but darn right quick night-time photography :)

It’s Which Came First? by Anna Hrachovec and all the details can be found in my project pages on Ravelry

Hope you all had a wonderful Easter day!

I guess I’m going to go with the chicken coming first. Well at least that is what I knitted first

Daughters daily drawings.

Originally I was going to use Dunkin Donuts, after all that is the fuel that keeps me going, but with the house of sickness last week I never really got the opportunity to gather all the props and then take pictures. Missy though, with one of her daily drawings was able to capture the letter “D” quite perfectly.

daily still life
Daily Drawing - Mom’s Nightstand

Just about everyday Missy manages to draw something. Often it’s a still life of where ever she is at the moment, then other times it’s your regular rainbows and flowers of a dreamy 13 year old. This is one of her drawing from last week that pretty much captures what I was going for anyway (there’s the DD cup after all). This was her view of my nightstand while sitting on my bed, and I love how she captured all the details :) There’s the fall out card from Spin-Off magazine, my flowered coffee mug (it had tea in it), and of course the always present Dunkin Donut cup.

I love Missy’s daily doodles and drawings :)

3 hours 12 mins 11 secs to go - and I’ve been outbid. Oh well…

Crazy, crazy week. Well that was last weeks title, this week would be I wanna new drug (although I totally loath that song it still fits with keeping the music thing going).

Last week: Two out of three kids at all times sick - but never the same two.
This week: I’m sick. I thought I was in the clear, then Saturday night it hit me like a ton of bricks. The throat, the head, the yuck. I find it hard to believe that it’s only Monday, because these last two days have felt like forever.

Darn kids!

This post originally started some time last week was a bunch of random rambling - in updating it all I have done is add some more. I hope I don’t lose none of you. :)

    Things I’m loving:

  • Bacon cups - yum!
  • These mittens.
  • Chickens!
  • My new project on the needles. I was crazy over the Dream in Color Smooshy sock yarn. Oh my goodness the Classy is just as good and just as dreamy. I love this stuff.
  • dream in color classy
The start of something Wicked - the cardigan version
    Things I’m contemplating:

    boots I'm wanting
  • I can only get one pair of fun boots (now it’s only a maybe - see below). I love them all, but I’m leaning towards the pink ones in the middle. They would defiantly get the most use out of the three being tall and solid. Opinions?
  • I’m thinking the chimp for the living room, or maybe in the dinning room and the ants for the kitchen or going between the doors of the kids rooms. via One Up Designs
  • chimp wall graphic
    ants
Things that are driving me crazy:

  • I’m still the winning bid for a pat green drum carder. There are 4 hours left. Could it really be mine? I’m not going any higher because that would make the great deal into just an okay deal. Great deals I can justify and fit into the budget, where as just ok deals I feel I’m just being greedy.
  • When you really need boots (because your most used black ones are about to lose a heel, and your all time favorite brown ones are getting a little too worn) you can never find them. I want tall, heeled but with a tread on the bottom, and a round toe. Not square, not pointed, round, with tread. Is that to much to ask? Also, why is it when your looking for something specific all you find are things that you did not know you needed? (see boot photo above)
  • I’m still winning on the carder but someone is bidding and my bid has just increased another $10. My max bid is set and I’m not going any higher. I know they are going to get it at the last minute. I’m not going any higher. I’m not going any higher. I’m not going any higher. Breathe.
    Things I’m just not getting:

  • Why you would encourage you wee ones to play with pee and poop. Although they are cute, sometimes you just have to say no. Fun and functional? I don’t think so.
