Black Friday, no way José! Cyber Monday from the comfort of my home without even getting out of my pj’s, now that I can handle, or at least so I thought.

All week my inbox had been filling up with deals to be had. I made a plan, and decided this would be the day I finally obtained that new camera. I even did some investigating and made a decision on the brand and model I was going to score. Go me :)

But…

I’m quickly thrown astray when it comes to shopping online. I mean everything is just a click away, and before you know it your a thousand clicks from where you started.

With me it always starts with the reviews. They always seem to lead to another brand or model, which when you read the reviews lead to another brand or model, which when you read the reviews lead to another brand or model, and so on, and so on, and so forth. Mistake number one.

Then before you know it your re-reviewing camera models you have already thrown to the wayside for whatever reason because Dan in Arkansas says it the best money can buy. This leads to hours of wasted time before you once again throw it to the wayside for the exact same reason you did last time. Mistake number two.

Some where in the middle you are tempted with the brighter and shinier, and hey it’s only $100, $200, $300 more than you were planning on spending. What a deal! Mistake number three.

At some point each of these were under serious consideration:

All links lead to Amazon even though that’s not where I purchased, just an easy place to find them all.

It took me all day to purchase what I had originally set out to purchase. Yes indeed. All that time spent astray and I ended up getting what I originally went out to get. Ugh. In the process I did find my next (wanted) camera purchase, because you know, you have to have a plan. :)

Which one did I get? Which will be my next? Which one again was pushed to the wayside? Da-da-da-da! Tune in next week :)

Until the new equipment arrives we all have to deal with my slowly dying three year old for my photography endeavors. Here’s hopefully my last finished project shot with the old. My Sheep Shed lace is now all spun up.

future lace
The smallest stuff I’ve ever done in it’s not yet set state.

It’s not perfect by any means, and still needs to be finished, but I’m still so happy with it. To date it’s the most yardage I’ve ever had - just over 2oz yielded 554 yards of 2 ply. I never did a WPI, but that’s lace baby! :)

    Very well done!

Thanks a LOT for all those camera links. I too was pretty well decided, and now look what you’ve done.

    Beautiful yarn… love it!

You should have gotten my camera, the Panasonic Lumix. Love it too. ;) Am I seeing you tonight?

I’m thinking the Canon Rebel XTi. But it’s so much money.

I’ve done research on two cameras and one was a definite, until I saw the price of the other.

I am planning on getting either Nikon D80 or Pentax 10D. The Pentax is my first choice because of what it offers in relation to the Nikon D80. However, I went on Amazon today and saw that the body of Nikon D80 is only about $100 more than the body of Pentax 10D. I don’t want a kit. I am planning to buy a Prime lens first: 50mm f/1.4 lens. I will later buy a more versatile lens: 18-250mm lens.

I like the fact that with a Nikon D80 (or even Nikon D40x) I can use the lenses with an upgraded Nikon model.

But I have been drawn to the Pentax. However, so far, the most advanced camera Pentax offers is the 10D, and I like the future option of upgrading. Decisions, decisions.

I can’t wait to see what you get.

In my excitement to talk “camera”, I forgot to tell you how lovely your skein is. Great job!

    Ooooo …. very pretty yarn!!!

I would talk to Tina about which camera to get. She’s very tech minded and helpful in that department.

I’ve had a Canon Digital Rebel SLR for a while, and I love it, but the one I have is a little heavy to just carry around. Had an old Nikon Coolpix, hated it, and now have the Sony Cybershot blah,,,H3. I think I love it. Not too sure yet.

    The yarn is so pretty.

I’m not much for the mall thing myself. Too much crazy.

The yarn is beautiful!! Definitely must be laceweight to get that much yardage from 2oz. Congrats!
