Along time ago I started spinning this merino/tencel blend acquired from the Sheep Shed at Cummington last year, or was it the year before? Actually I think it was the year before.

Any way, it gave me fits, total and complete fits. I know now I was not putting enough spin into it and that is why it was drifting apart on me. Totally inspired by Rosa it’s now becoming lace, instead of the originally planned sock yarn. The spinning is so much easier this second time around. I think finally spinning the silk up has helped much with this new effort.

One down and one to go

I had originally planned on doing just a single - but when I test knitted the single I did not like it at all (I know can you believe I did a test spin and knit! Maturity rocks). So I’m now doing a 2 ply and hoping I get enough yardage to do something semi-substantial with. We shall see how this goes.

Oh my, that is DIVINE! The colors are fantastic and the spinning is super fine. I love how it is spinning up. That makes me sad because I can’t spin. But it makes me happy to see such great work from your spinning. Thanks for sharing!

Rosa, inspires me too! And, she couldn’t say it better. It truly does look divine. I can’t wait to see what you make with it!

Gorgeous! Can’t wait to see the finished product! Merino/tencel can be awfully tricky stuff.

  7. […] Until the new equipment arrives we all have to deal with my slowly dying three year old for my photography endeavors. Here’s hopefully my last finished project shot with the old. My Sheep Shed lace is now all spun up. The smallest stuff I’ve ever done in it’s not yet set state. […]
