Sometime ago, well slightly over a year ago, actually now that I’m thinking about it, almost two years ago #1 son’s friend asked me to make him a hat. All he wanted was a plain green hat. A simple plain green hat – I could do that. So I bought some yarn. When #1 son saw the yarn I had chosen for his buddies hat he informed me no friend of his is going to wear a girlie green hat.

So I ask what shade of green would Jimmy (the friend) like? Duh mom, a manly green. Well that cleared it right up for me. With the help of the LYS owner, and a few happen to be there patrons, we all finally all concurred on one shade of green. Yes, I now I have the most manly green ever in my hot little hands.

The yarn passes #1 sons test, but he thinks it would be a good idea to run it by Jimmy before I actually start the hat.

So the yarn goes to school with me the next day. Jimmy thinks it’s a nice green, but, but don’t you think it’s a bit on the dark side? Dark? No, this was voted the most manly shade of green in all Columbia County. It’s not to dark, it’s perfect, don’t you think? Uh, I think it’s a bit dark?

Green #1 girlie-green.
Green #2 to dark green

Time passes…

Hey Mrs. W you have my hat done yet? Working on it.

More time passes…

Rhinebeck happens where I happen to pick up more green yarn at the Morehouse Merino after party.

Again a bit of time passes.

Then a bunch more time passes.

He sees little mans end of summer hat. Hey Mrs. W where’s my hat? Because you know, I’m still waiting. I really like that one, well if it was green.

Finally it all comes together.

LOL Woman, you are too much, and I think you meant conscience, not conscious. Though to think of it, I’m surprised you are conscious given all that you’ve got on your plate.

Love the hat AND the new yarn. :)

Nice hat! I like the sideways garter. And beautiful handspun.

I love that pattern! I always try to get people to be specific as possible when they request colors, but it always takes a few tries. It’s so funny how shades differ between people.

    Love that silk!

Wow. You are way more patient than I. It came out great and knowing how awesome Morehouse yarn is, I’m sure it will be very warm and cozy too!
