Happy Friday all.
The colors right now for project spectrum are blue, gray, and white – so why in my last post did I show a picture of something black? Uh, I’m going to blame color association. Gray, darker gray, dark gray, black. Or how about this one black and white, just rolls off the tongue. It’s the same with black and blue. Makes sense, yes? How about this spin: I’m so totally organized and on top of things that I was just getting ready for the summer round of colors, because I’m on top of things like that.
Or maybe I’m just totally losing it. Yesterday I had this wonderful brainstorm of an idea (this was after I realized I was knitting black) I will just start a cute little cardi with this gray yarn. This gray (on the light side) sport weight yarn – that’s a great idea. Go all out and even swatch, and come to the conclusion that size one needles are what it looks best at, every thing higher is to loosey-goosey. Did this realization stop me – oh no – I did the math. Calculated that I would have to cast on 298 stitches to get it to fit me and the pattern. Did this fact stop me – oh no. I casted on those 298 stitches, twice, because the first time my long tail cast-on came up short (oh how I hate that) by about 60 stitches. So I cast on again., and again come up short - 10 stitches – 10 measly stitches. I did not start over this time. I did this trick some one told me about (I think it’s actually a Lily Chin method or something) where you just purl on the needed stitches. So now I’m off.
I now have the needed stitches to start, and I’m still thinking it’s a totally sane idea to knit an adult sized sweater on size one needles. A sweater that I think is just okay, a sweater that I’m not totally in love with, on size one needles. Needles in which I complain are much to small when I have to use them for socks. Three hours pass and I have approximately three rows done, and then it hits, it finally hits me – what the freak am I doing? That sucker was frogged faster than you can say hold the cheese.
Yowza!
I don’t know what was in my head with the must knit something gray now. Especially when I had already started this right after my just plied sock yarn.

I’m not sure what kind of wool it is – and it’s very much on the natural side (little bits and scratchies) especially after that super soft merino but I’m having fun, and I’m getting my skinny on. It’s some pencil roving that Tina got for me for my birthday at Rhinebeck (love that Rhinebeck falls on the weekend of my birth – it’s like a huge wool birthday party just for me. Or at least I like to think of it that way)
I have already filled two bobbins worth, and just got done plying them. Tomorrow I will skein and set, and see what I have.
It’s Friday and the roads were clear so….
