A day in the life of a junkie: Friday the 9th of February.

First sleep in till slightly after 10:30 am* because your hung over from your late night of detangling your just set and now dry newest spinning creation (which will be blogged about later).

Consume massive quantities of coffee.
Dress yourself.
Dress your companion (aka little man).
Feed yourself and companion a healthy brunch of oatmeal, pb&j, an apple, and a banana.
Consume more coffee because you’ve slept so late your really having a hard time getting going.
Gather the needed items: Pocket book, diaper bag, knitting bag, and the needed lists.
Run around the house looking for hat for little man – find yourself amazed by the fact that your a knitter yet can never find your littlest one a hat – ever.
Finally score a bright orange fleece thing from the deep dark crevices of the couch and resume take off.
Get out of the house asap, because the shakes are starting. To much coffee? The need for a fix?

Yarn sale + the newest issues of Interweave and Rowan = first stop.

Colorful Stitches is having a sale, and nothing excites me more than the words yarn and sale. Last years sale totally rocked and I scored myself much soon to be discontinued Rowan, this year not so much. What I really wanted is some more Rowan Aran Tweed but with the almost 17 dollar price tag and a mere 20% off I resisted. Last year I got a ton for 7 dollars a skein and what I have left of that will have to do me for a bit more. But I did not leave there empty handed. Three skeins of Koigu (cw 300) and two skeins of Claudia Hand Painted sock yarn (cw Begonia) earmarked for the entrelac socks in the newest issue of Interweave.

Going to attempt me some Eunny entrelac socks with this brown and pink goodness

Friday’s are thrift store days. Junkie’ s of the textile persuasion love thrift stores because they stretch your dollar even more allowing even more textile goodness into the household. This Friday’s score was tiny but did include yarn which is quite the rarity. The brown is an unmarked cone of some type of wool. I will have to swatch and wash to find out exactly what I have but that is half the fun. The blue is from Macy’s many moons ago (tapestry wool). I got it for the thrill of the label and the price was right. Total spent $3.50

Who knew Macy’s sold yarn? The blue is nice though.

After the thrift stores ( we actually hit two) our next stop was Barnes & Noble. The great buy there was the needle point kit from Sublime, on clearance for 6.95 (online it’s $5 a great buy either way). I also picked up the skirt book (sew what! Skirts) I’ve been wanting. I wear many, many skirts (hush home girls) and hopefully this book will lead me to become pattern free and well fitted.

After B&N we hit Michaels. I was hoping to see some of the new Lion Brand yarns in person, and also had a hankering for the re-released cotton ease. Ah, but it was not to be. They had none of what we were looking for and I actually left there empty handed – believe it or not.

So we were of to JoAnn’s - with the same mission. This place is harder for me to leave empty handed though because they have the textiles of the fabric persuasion to woo you into the dark side. Again none of the new Lion Brand yarns to be found, nor the cotton ease, but they were having a huge clearance sale and they had Vogue patterns for $3.50 and McCall’s for $1.99. I was most excited about the Vogue patterns, because Vogue 2903 I’ve been lusting for since first contact but the hefty $25.00 price tag always held me back. For $3.50 I’m more than willing to buy it and have it sit forever before I get to it. (Oh! And I might have the perfect material for it already in stash, but I still have to check out the yardage requirements and make sure I have enough to use what I’m thinking of using. I’m getting giddy all over again just thinking of it.) The other two patterns were ones I got because I looked through the book, then fell quickly in lust. I also picked up the last yard of some very plushy corduroy for just under $3.00 – it’s the nice thick soft stuff and was 90% off. There was much more there and I could have gone totally crazy – but I left the credit cards at home – because Friday’s are also cash only days:) (This really keeps me in line from going mad crazy with the purchases)

Came home with a good strong shoppers high, fixed some grub for the family and then knit a bit on the hubby’s Valentines Day socks. I should make it in time.

I then took a moment to start my first project for project spectrum.

And that my friends is the typical Friday of this here junkie.

*Actually I never get to sleep in this late, but boy did it feel good. Slightly disorienting though because by the time your up and ready to start your day it’s half over already, or at least it feels that way.

**also sorry for the lack of linkage - but this post took me 2 hours (why does it take me so long?) and I really have no more time. Ask if you can’t find anything**

You know, I think you’re hiding a nuclear reactor in your abdomen. A really small, nuclear reactor. I can’t explain how you do all that and have 4 children to take care of. I really don’t.

    BTW, I miss you. :)
