Lets just say that four days sick and stuck in the house is enough to drive you totally stir crazy. Although I’m still not quite myself I did make it to school today – for at least half the day. It was a long half day, probably because I did have to bring little man with me, but boy did it feel good to be out and about. Well, good, until I forgot that I’m still sick and decided to jump rope with the girls (while holding little man I must add) for a jump off. And blasted I almost won – second to last to get out. The old “touch the ground” part threw me off rhythm ( but still a feat in it’s self considering I was holding an extra 25lbs in my arms) but I’m digressing once again. But since I’m already on this trail of digression – when did I lose the ability to double-dutch? For some reason I find this totally upsetting. This summer I found out I no longer posses any skate boarding skills, and now this? Some parts of getting older are really no fun, and that old adage of if you don’t use it – you lose it is so true!

But that’s not why I’m here – oh no.

It’s time for out with the old, and of course in with the new.

I mentioned before that I had purged my WIP’s basket, and how good it felt. Well one of the albatrosses in there was my Angelina. Oh how I loved Angelina, oh how I longed for Angelina, oh what a huge disappointment Angelina turned out to be. This is no fault of the designer, just the naive knitter that attempted her for her first adult sized sweater with no clue on how things fit her small frame or the knowledge to change things so they fit better. So Angelina sat. Then she sat some more. Giving the owner evil looks always on top of the basket of things to finish – taunting her – with her you do not know what to do with me ways. Then that big evil laugh would appear out of nowhere. Okay maybe the laughing part is all in my head, no matter, the fit was a big no go. Although the pictures make lite of her flaws (lighting?) the back puckers were to much for this girl. I think most of it was being the first, and all the pressure that goes with being the first, and the perfection we expect, well from our first.

Angelina and her bad back puckers
Angelina’s bad back puckers don’t show to well here - but they are there. This chicken winged girl does not need any help with extra wings in the back - thank you very much.

I never got the gumption to frog her – though she sat there many months waiting for me to do so – because this was her destiny. There was no other way. Part of me just wanted to throw her in the giveaway pile, but the thrifty part of me kept saying what a wast of perfectly good yarn. Then I had notions of felting her and cutting her up into coasters and what not, maybe even pulling off the lace collar to be re-used somehow. Yeah, all great ideas, but the motivation never came. Then one day while reading Rose-Kim I found Angelina’s destiny. She would become performing art – how cool is that! Angelina still has the chance to become the superstar she was always meant to be.

The front view still has possiblities
From the front she’s still a beauty to behold (pay no mind to the goose neck or the massive hands though - k) If I only stalled on trying her on - she may have been completed.

Moving on…

Now let’s acknowledge some of the new stuff that has entered the household and was sadly not noted anywhere on this here blog for prosperity. And let me just say – it’s all good.

I’m going to have to start becoming quite the sock knitter, the sock yarn stash has grown nicely due to loving friends and my ability to shop.

some new sock yarns
Oh my pretties

From left to right: From Lazy Perry Ranch, who’s etsy shop is here, 400 yds of merino superwash in the color “Fade from Deep Orange”. It’s some lovely stripy goodness that I can’t wait to use. You do have to check out her shop – she even custom dyes and her prices are very fair. She has some rainbow striped sock yarn than I’m itching to get for some rainbow brite knee-highs, but I’m going to wait a bit because I do have plenty of socks to work on. In the middle is my Christmas gift from Amy. It’s some squishy soft sock yarn from RubySapphire Yarns. The colors make me think spring. Another yarn I can’t wait to use. Last but not least is a gift from Jaya. When Dye-o-Rama was going on I loved the yarn Jaya sent her buddy. It’s called Peppermint Patty and now I have some myself. My knitty girls are the best spoilers!

Wait there’s more. Before Christmas I ordered some fiber from Kae. She was my secret pal once (one of the best ever I must add) and she started processing fiber so I finally got the chance to order. She is one of those places where the goods go quick. Little did I know it would be my first and last order because she’s closing up shop for a bit, because life as a single mom, working full-time, and being college student does get busy (you think). But her stuff is so nice don’t you think?

Then I won another contest (yowza that makes two) this time guessing Monica’s correct gender of her babe to be (girl) and she sent me this wonderful fiber that she dyed herself.

It’s all good!

Sorry for the lack of details on the fibers, they are in the fiber room, (love saying that because it makes it sound enormous - I wish) aka daughters bedroom who is sleeping soundly right, and my recall is nothing. Could I make that sentence any longer?
