I thought I was prepared. I thought I knew what to expect being that I’m an experienced Rhinebecker and all, I mean this was my second year going to both the show and the blogger meet up. I was wrong. It was unbelievable, overwhelming, and totally fun.
The meet up, well you have already heard from many people how that was. There were so many people! It sort of went like this for me:
Meet, pet, meet another, pet some more.
What? Can you say that again? What?
Hi are you a square? Huh? What?
I would then realize I was caught up in a huge mass of people and have to work myself out of the crowd to the outskirts. Then I would slowly end up in the middle again, and have to work myself out once more.
The crowd was so huge that you could not hear the person standing next to you - that kind of huge. Although it’s my second meet up I have yet to meet the organizer of this shindig, go figure. Last year I spent much time chasing little man and this year there was about 1000x’s the people. Oh but I did meet so many new people. Many totally new people, blogs in which I had never even heard of, and many of the owners of blogs that I actually visit. Then again if I wasn’t with the ever-outgoing Tina I would have probably met half the people (if that) I did. Anonymity and my hermit like qualities seem to really shine in events like this. I’m very happy and content just watching from the outside.
Some of the highlights:
Seeing some totally awesome knits.
Being in Norm Hall’s booth while the lucky one was picking up their wheel. It was beautiful! But what a wait - ordered in 2000 and received in 2006, but I’m sure so totally worth it. There was an odd feeling for me being there at such a moment, like being at the birth of a newborn of a complete stranger. Yet you couldn’t help but get caught up in the total joy of the moment and I’m happy I was there to share in the experience of it all.
There is so much more to say, but I have to attempt to get it somewhat coherent, so there will be more later. There was shopping, many more highlights and a few low lights, and even a few pictures taken. Right now I’m off to check the mail, some say I have packages there waiting for pick up, for today I turn 37 - yowza.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MICHELLE! Kick back and enjoy your special day.
