Push it back, push it back, away back! That’s the chant going through my head at this moment. I guess it’s a leftover from my old highschool mascot/cheereading days. But no siree I’m not talking about football - I’m thinking about the up coming holidays. Would it not be nice to push them back just a wee bit? I’m starting to feel the “let’s get crafty” strain.

I rarely knit for myself. Beilieve it or not with the gazillion scarfs I’ve done - I don’t have one myself. (must get on that though) So why now with the holidays looming just around the corner do I feel the need to knit only for me, me, me. It’s tearing me apart. It’s like the good guy and the bad guy on your shoulders attempting to coach you along.

  • Oooh Michelle you would look so good in this - it is totally you.
  • Michelle if you don’t finish the slippers the chidren will have cold feet. You don’t want your children to have cold feet do you?
  • Michelle your feet must have hand knitted socks now-your tootsies deserve only the very best.
  • Michelle if you do not finish Grandmas afghan she will be cold - the winters in NY are harsh you know. The elderly need extra warmth because their blood flow is slowing down.
  • Michelle, who cares if it’s November Butterfly is calling you
  • What kind of Christmas are are the children going to have without new stockings to hang? And poor Nathan doesn’t even have a real one yet.

Then you (I) finally give in. Some of the holdiay knitting was pushed to the side for this:

one natalya fingerless glove almost done

One Natalya (*warning* pdf) almost done. I’m loving her and her brown goodness. I found this pattern blog reading a couple of weeks ago. Then last week I received a newletter from countrywool saying they had a new stock of Lush in (and this stuff is lush and plush and so very soft) and how it was the yarn called for in this great free pattern. Now if that is not must knit now chemistry working together I don’t know what is.

Here is another shot. The look at me on the key board shot.

Natalya on the keyboard

I still have the thumb to do and the whole other glove - but this is a great fun knit. OK - it is also the I’m a clutz with double points knit so don’t knit me in public cuz the people will stare. I finally got the cables down without looking totally like a dufus (sp?) Then again I was busy knitting and not really looking at myself. But I did get more comfortable with all the needles going. That is until the fingers. Three needles and so few stiches those suckers were flying at times. So I took a break to come here.
