Happy camper here - look at what I got today. The two Christmas knit books are birthday gifts - and the rest is from my secret pal.
I'm spoiled
I love all the monkey goodness my buddy sent me - the coin purse is the cutest. The monkey bandaids are still unopend, so I have no clue as to what my toy suprise is - but the kids have been warned. If any child is found with monkey bandaid on body, they will be in big trouble, because they are all mine - mawhahahah (how do you spell that evil laugh anyway?) The finishing book I have been really wanting - because I really need it. I mean neeeeeeeeeeed it. I can now delete it off my wishlist - yeah. SP your the best!

I also finally finished my shaw - you know the one I was going to wear to Rhinebeck :-) Well it may be late - but I’m loving it. I finished getting it off the needles today at school. The kids were like “what’s that?” a shaw I say. Old ladies wear shaws I thought………waaah! Not what one really wants to hear days before they are turning 36 and feeling old and tired as it is. But here it is finally blocking. I know green shaw and green sheets on bed does not really make a good picture, but who changes the sheets to block some knitting?
yummy green shaw on nasty green sheets
Well Im really liking my country granny shaw, and I can’t wait to actually wear it. Now all I have to do for Rhinebeck is finish seaming litte mans sweater. Yes, finished in July you say. I’m getting there.

I made a deal with myself that I could not get into any of the new stuff until I finish some of the old wips. I mean I should at least finish what we were going to wear there don’t you think? Oh, but I’m so itching to start anything new.

Now on to Rhinebeck…
After a few morning errands we hit the road with breakfast in tow.
mmm coffee and donuts

We arrive ready to roar. I’m being a very good girl - just cruising. There was so much there, and it was so huge I did not want to make a purchase without knowing is was the right one. I’m one of those ones that will cruise the whole mall checking out everything first before I buy anything. It’s my attempt at trying to get the best deal. It’s my ritual, my habit, just a me thing. So I’m doing my regular me thing- and then we run into Jaya
jaya is starting to get tired

Next thing you know, in a matter of minutes, I have three different sock yarns. How that happen? Well basically she got me going and I never stopped. She left, and me, well I kept going. It should be noted here, that I don’t knit socks. I have done only wee little baby socks. And I have enough yarn now to make a gazillion baby socks. I’m going to be a big girl though and attempt some big girl socks!

We did make it to the meet-up. Well sort of. I was there but not really there. I let Nathan free and spent most of my time chasing him. Then Nicole was determined to show me some rocks in the gem room. I did get the chance talk briefly with knitting whench aka Nancy.

the knitting wench live and in person
This is only picture I have from the meet up with anybody actually looking at the camera smiling, and it was an accident - totally. She just happened to be standing there smiling when I took my random shot. How come that never happens to me? You know how many pictures of me with my mouth open have been taking? I don’t either - to many to count. And my mouth looks really big when it’s wide open jabbering away. Anyways, I’m digressing. She did have a really nice bag that she had sewn. The fabric was what pulled me in of course. It had this retro palm tree thing going on. - very nice.

I had a great time meeting people, petting sheep, petting wool, petting fibers, petting everything. I did a lot of petting. I definately will be going back again next year. I will be adding money to the budget for fabrics though. There was a lot of nice fabric for quilting and rugs there - who knew? No one told me that. I have such an itch now to pull out my rug hooking stuff. Time, time, time, is what I need to do all the projects I wish to do. I also needed more time at the festival. Next year I’m going to try for both days. One with kids, one kid free. We only hit probably a little over half of it. I mean there was whole sheds and buildings that I missed. But I did get to go down the bouncy-bounce slide a couple of times :-)

Warp speed ahead…a few random pictures:

Nathan hanging tough even though he’s ready to go.

A cute spotted llama (I think that’s what it is)

Monkey man playing his musical thing.
monkey man playing some music

monkey man smiliing for the camera
It must be noted that monkey mans music can become quite irritating after awhile. He was outside the Spirit Trail Fibers booth where I bought some, uh, sock yarn. I was there about 30 minutes waiting in line - I had enough of the monkey mans music.

In the previous post I did a stash picture. I did have a very detailed, linkfest and tell-all, about all my wonderful acquisitions, it got ate - and I’m not going there again. That was like a lifetime wasted, or at the least many crafting hours gone bye-bye.

LMAO Michelle, it’s a shawL. I was trying to figure out last night if it was just an accent thing or what. *grin*

I LOVE your shawl, btw, you did a fantasticj ob. It’s just the right color for you too. :)

You’ve got great taste in books as well, my Hand Knit Holidays is coming in the mail this week as well! You’ve got to make yourself a pair of those SEXAY knit cuban heel thigh high stocking now. Chris’s eyes would pop out! LOL

Love the picture of Jaya, and Nathan looks like a little pimp daddy. LOL He’s just too cute for words I tell ya. I’m so jealous that you did the bouncey slide! We missed everything but the 4H building for the sheep to shawl and the handspun yarn competition of course. Everything else was shopping. I’m icorrigible, and I do the walk the walk thing first too.
