Why is it when you supposedly do things right - they still go bad?? Swatch for new item - check. Wash swatch for color fastness - check. Wash swatch in hot water just to make sure of color fastness - check. My oh my, then why did this happen?

rebecca skirt blotchiness

Not only did the color run (and I washed it in cold)- but some of the ends came through to the front. Those I can just push back in. But this picture does the skirt no justice. It’s bad, really bad. It took me for ever to sew in all those ends (about a month I think) OK, I was not constantly sewing - but geeze. I never saw this coming.

My frugality is really getting in the way here. Part of me says - well girl you got to wear it - it’s like a $50 dollar skirt. The other part is saying no way jose - you can’t wear that thing and say you made it. Reality is I will probably wear it once just to say I wore it. Then it will sit forever till I have the nerve to get rid of it finally.

And how was your day?

Oh honey… I know we talked about this Tuesday, but still. I feel your pain. Maybe you could swatch up those yarns in the same pattern/colors, and then dye the swatch brown, see if you get a neat Autumn effect? I dunno… you really should try that RIT dye remover with a washcloth or paintbrush. Might be your saving grace.
